NOTE: These instructions assume you have a Nearmap on OpenSolar subscription. Contact your Nearmap account manager.
New OpenSolar Account
- No existing OpenSolar account
- Nearmap on OpenSolar subscription activated
If you are a Nearmap user, your Nearmap administrator will need to follow these steps to connect to Nearmap on OpenSolar before you can follow them.
- Log into MyAccount at https://apps.nearmap.com/account.
- Click the Go to OpenSolar button.
- You see a Welcome to Nearmap on OpenSolar video. We recommend you watch the video to get an overview of what you can do with Nearmap on OpenSolar.
Existing OpenSolar Account

Login into Nearmap on OpenSolar from Nearmap
FOR NEARMAP USERS: To upgrade to Nearmap on OpenSolar, your Nearmap Admin must already be upgraded (see instructions: Upgrade to Nearmap on OpenSolar: Nearmap Admin with free Open Solar admin account). If Nearmap user tries to upgrade to their free OpenSolar account, they will see an error at the OpenSolar login dialog (step 4 below).
- From Nearmap, log into the MyAccount
- Click the OPENSOLAR button. This takes you to the OpenSolar login.

- Enter your OpenSolar password to sign in.
USERS: If you see the dialog shown below, you need to ask your Nearmap administrator to upgrade their account to Nearmap on OpenSolar, following the steps in Upgrade to Nearmap on OpenSolar: Nearmap Admin with free Open Solar admin account.
After they have done this, you will be able to log back in again. Start all the steps in this current section from the beginning.
- Choose one of your accounts or create a new one. (Read OpenSolar's instructions here: Creating a new Nearmap on OpenSolar Account.)
- Click the CONTINUE button.
This takes you to the OpenSolar Projects page for the account you selected when you signed in.
You are now set up to use Nearmap on OpenSolar.
Upgrade from within OpenSolar
Only Nearmap Admins are able to upgrade an OpenSolar Account to a Nearmap on OpenSolar Account.
From within OpenSolar, follow OpenSolar's instructions for Upgrading an OpenSolar Account to a Nearmap on OpenSolar Account.
Downgrade from Nearmap on OpenSolar
NOTE: Only Nearmap admins can downgrade from Nearmap on OpenSolar.
Downgrading your account means your Nearmap account is no longer connected to your OpenSolar account.
Once you downgrade your account you will no longer see Nearmap imagery when using OpenSolar.
- Log into Nearmap on OpenSolar.
- Select Control tab, then under Company, select Settings.
- Press DOWNGRADE FROM NEARMAP ON OPENSOLAR.
- A dialog appears. Enter DOWNGRADE into the edit box and press OK.
- Press Save. This action sends a password reset email to the admin and all users.
- Click the link to reset your OpenSolar password so you can continue using OpenSolar without Nearmap content.
