Now that you know how to draw a line or shape to measure, let's take a look at how we can modify or edit lines and shapes. Lines and shapes are referred to as objects here.
Re-sizing an object
To change the size of an object, use one of these methods:
- Resize an object on the map: Simply click to select the object and drag to the desired size.
- Change the measurements in the Inspector panel: type a new value for the measurement.
NOTE: Calculated values such as area or circumference are not editable.
Grouping objects
To group multiple objects into a single object:
- Hold the SHIFT key down, and click to select the objects to group.
- Right-click and select Group from the context menu.
To ungroup a set of objects, simply select the group, right-click and select Ungroup from the context menu.
You can group and ungroup objects from the Feature Layers panel.
You can move a set of grouped objects. Select the grouped object, and drag and drop where you want on the map.
Duplicating an object
- Click to select the object.
- Right-click and select Duplicate from the context menu. A copy of the selected object is created and place over the original object.
The duplicate object is identical to the original in every respect - name, size, color and measurement. It is listed in the Feature Layers.
You can also duplicate objects from the Feature Layers panel.
Rotating an object
Rotation is relative to an object's bounding box.
- Click to select the object you want to rotate.
- Drag the object to the angle you want.
- Release the mouse button to finish.
Alternatively, click in the Rotation field in the Inspector panel and enter the angle of rotation.
A rectangle can also be rotated using its vertices. See Measure Area and Perimeter.
Deleting an objectThere are four ways to delete a line, polygon or circle.
