You can add any number of your organization's domains to MyAccount and verify each one before you assign a connection to a domain. Assignments determine whether a user authenticates with Nearmap credentials or via one of your connections.
This is based on the domain of the user's email address. Once you assign a connection to a domain, all users with email addresses in that domain will authenticate using that connection. A connection can be assigned to multiple domains.
If you assign a connection to a domain, for example company.com
to a connection:
- A user with an email address
name@company.com
will authenticate via that connection - A user with an email address
name@team.company.com
will not authenticate via that connection unless you also assign the team.company.com
domain to the connection.
Once a connection is tested and working, you must verify the domain that needs to be assigned to a connection.
NOTE: When a domain is added it's assigned to the Nearmap credentials connection ID by default. Once the domain is verified, assign it to one of your connections so that email addresses on that domain will authenticate via that connection.
Overview of steps to create and set up a domain
- Add a domain.
When you add a domain, by default the Nearmap credentials connection ID is assigned to it. - Note down the verification code that's displayed once the domain is created.
- Verify the domain using the code from the previous step.
- Once the domain is verified, you must assign a different connection ID.
At any time, you can assign a new connection ID to your domain. For example, if you change from Azure AD to ADFS.
