Navigation tools allow you to view the map from different perspectives.

| Locate Me | Shows your location on our Nearmap imagery. Locate Me is not available in the Oblique base layer. |

| Rotate left/right | These buttons are available only in the Oblique base layer, and can be used to view Oblique photos of your location from different directions. |

| Compass | View Nearmap imagery from any cardinal direction simply by rotating the compass. The black arrowhead points to the North on the map. In the Vertical base map, this button rotates the map. In the Oblique base map, it displays photos from different directions. Compass rotation is not available in the Panorama base layer. |
Resolving your location
Click the Locate me button to view your location on our Nearmap imagery, which is great for visualizing where you are in the field in relation to historical imagery. The feature tracks your location on the map as you move.
For this to work, you will need to allow MapBrowser to use your location. You will see this message if location sharing is disabled, and the Locate Me button will be disabled. You can change this permission at any time using your web browser settings.
The Locate me button is a toggle button, which turns blue when selected. It remains selected until you click the button again. You can drop a location marker to view the address or location details.
NOTES:
- If you have chosen to use the Locate Me feature, we may record the approximate location of where you accessed this feature. We do not track or record your location as you move.

Zooming in and out
The Zoom buttons let you zoom in and out of the map. Each click zooms in or out one zoom level.
There are other way to zoom in and out of the map is using keyboard shortcuts and gestures.
Rotating the map
To rotate the map, click Rotate. Each click rotates the map 90 degrees to the left.
Viewing the map from a different direction
You can view Nearmap imagery from any cardinal direction by rotating the compass. The compass is not available in the Panorama base layer. In all other base layers, click on, hold and drag the compass, and rotate it to view the imagery from a different cardinal direction.
NOTE: Click the center of the compass to reset the direction to North.
NOTE: When in the Panorama view, click the Direction button to quickly switch to a North, South, East or West Panorama for the current location.
