Your Nearmap account administrator can set up GeoData Link in Nearmap MyAccount if your account is provisioned for the product. As an administrator, you can set it up in the Integrations, GeoData Links tab. You will see the GeoData Link tab only if you have been provisioned for GeoData Link.
Setting up a GeoData Link
Setting up a GeoData Link involves the following steps:
- Ensure that your Nearmap administrator has enabled GeoData Link for you.
- Setting up a data link in MyAccount to the ArcGIS endpoint where the data resides.
- Select the layers you want to integrate with MapBrowser.
- Set layer attributes to be displayed in MapBrowser and to use for searching.
Each step is explained in detail in this article.
NOTE: Once configured, it may take up to one hour for data layers to be displayed in MapBrowser.
Creating a GeoData Link
Log in to MyAccount.
On the Integrations tab, select GeoData Links.
- Click Create GeoData Link. The Create GeoData Link (1/4) dialog is displayed.
- Complete the following fields:
- GeoData Link Name: A unique name to identify the GeoData Link integration.
- ArcGIS URL: URL that points to the ArcGIS Feature or Map service. This is also referred to as the endpoint.
- Does your endpoint require authentication?: If the ArcGIS site can be accessed by anyone, select No. If the site requires the user to log on, select Yes and complete the following details:
Token URL: URL of the token endpoint of the ArcGIS service to authenticate the user.
Username
Password
- Click NEXT. The Choose layers to link (2/4) dialog is displayed.
Selecting layers to link to MapBrowser
NOTE: Do not change the Display name of any layer. If a layer is renamed or deleted or if new layers are added, you will need to link the layers again for these changes to be reflected in MapBrowser.
From the Display as list, select whether the layer should be displayed as an image or a vector.
Vector vs Image - A Vector layer represents geographic data as points, lines or polygons whereas an Image layer represents geographic data as a set of pixels each of which contains an attribute value.
Click CONTINUE. The Edit Layers (3/4) dialog is displayed.
NOTE: Data Layers are identified by a unique ID within MapBrowser. In cases where IDs are not unique, you need to use a different attribute that has unique values and set that up as a Data Layer in your ArcGIS endpoint.
Changing layer preferences
- In the Edit Layers (3/4) dialog, set the order in which you want the layers to appear in MapBrowser. To do this, click and hold the button next to the layer name, and drag the row to the desired position.
- Set the Visible range, which is the zoom layer range in which you would like the layer to be displayed. Use the slider to set the zoom. Each point on the slider corresponds to the area (country, city, suburb, etc) that will be displayed. The default minimum is 17 while the default maximum is 24.
- Vector layers can be displayed in a chosen color.
- From the Colour list, select the color in which to display the layer. Image layers cannot have a color associated with them.
- Use the Brightness slider to set the brightness level of the selected color.
- To view additional styling options, click + Advanced styling.
- If required, use the slider to set the Fill Opacity. A higher fill opacity value results in less transparency.
- Select the Hatching style from the available options.
- Click CONTINUE. The Edit attributes (4/4) dialog is displayed.
Selecting attributes to include in MapBrowser
The Edit attributes (4/4) dialog lists all available parcel attributes that you can select to include in MapBrowser.
- For each attribute, you can choose to:
- Show the attribute in the Data Layers panel. To do this select the checkbox for the attribute in the Show in Data Layers column.
- Show the attribute's value in the Feature Details Inspector Panel. To do this select the checkbox for the attribute in the Show in Feature Details column.
- Select attributes that will be available to the user to use for searching. Attributes that are of type string, integer or GUID can enabled for searching. For example, attributes such as shape and area of the parcel cannot be used for searching.
NOTE: To be able to draw a shape on the imagery, the Shape attribute must be enabled in the Show in Feature Details column, and for it to be displayed on the imagery, it must be enabled in the Show in Data Layers column.
When configuring this section, it is important to know that:- Including an attribute in a Data Layer but not in the Feature Details will display the attribute only on the imagery.
- An attribute that is enabled only in Feature Details will not be visible on the imagery or be available for searching.
- Making an attribute only searchable (not including it in Data Layers or Feature Details) will allow users to search by that attribute, but users will not see the results in the Feature Details or on the imagery.
- To select all attributes, select the checkbox at the top of the column. Clearing the checkbox will clear all attributes you have selected. If there's more than one set of attributes, use the arrow to expand and collapse the attribute group for better viewing.
- Click FINISH after making your selection. You can now access GeoData Link attributes in MapBrowser.
