What is Debris?
While many different items might qualify as debris on a roof, our focus is on detection of collections of vegetative debris. Leafy vegetation can accumulate on rooftops, even without an immediately adjacent overhanging tree. Given the effect of wind over time, the debris will typically consolidate into piles at the perimeter of flat roofs or in the valleys of sloped roofs.
What is NOT Debris?
Short Term Implications
Debris on the roof can create a space where moisture gets trapped and persists for long periods of time which leads to deterioration of the roof.
Long Term Implications
Larger pieces of debris left on a roof can become airborne during a serious wind storm causing damages to the roof and/or any equipment on it. Deterioration of the membrane from long-standing areas of debris will lead to leaks.
