Overview
Nearmap Fire Risk AI is an AI-based product that provides critical data for assessing fire risk for a property. This data is based on the imagery captured in Nearmap surveys, and it identifies attributes surrounding a property that provides insights to help evaluate fire risk. The data is available via API.
Fire risk data is intended for use by:
- Data scientists or actuaries as an input for risk modeling
- Underwriters or agents to manually review specific properties, carry out remote inspections and define their own fire score
- Claims adjusters to assess coverage and settlement
You can use our fire risk insights data to establish property-specific mitigation measures and make better-informed assessments across the stages of a policy, namely, underwriting, claims, renewals and risk modeling.
Accessing fire risk data
You can access Nearmap Fire Risk AI data if you have a subscription for the Transactional Content API product.
Nearmap Fire Risk AI delivers the following data to assess fire risk:
- Defensible space
- 3D topography

NOTE: This product works on Gen 5 AI data.
❗️IMPORTANT: Nearmap Fire Risk AI is available for US and AU customers. US customers can access both defensible space and 3D topography data, while AU customers can only access
defensible space data.
The output is a CSV file that contains a row of data for each building or structure that is detected on a parcel. If two buildings are detected, the CSV will contain two rows as shown below.
NOTE: We filter out small structures such as sheds and barns within the parcel.
