What is Patching?
Implication of prior damage or deterioration to the roof that has been fixed.
What is NOT patching?
Short Term Implications
Implies prior damage or aging. Patching is a short term solution to increase the lifespan of a roof. Limited quantities of patching may be a normal approach to addressing an issue when replacement of the roof is not warranted.
Long Term Implications
Extensive and numerous amounts of patching often indicate a systemic problem with the roof due to factors such as age, design flaws, or prior damage. Such roofs should be considered for replacement.
