Short Term Implications
Vegetation overhang increases risk for damage to the roof should tree limbs break off during storms and fall onto the roof.
Long Term Implications
Over the long term, overhanging trees can deteriorate the roof through contact/abrasion and provide additional access for insects/vermin. Further, the longer a tree is allowed to overhang a roof, the longer/larger/heavier its branches grow, increases its potential for damage in the event a limb breaks.
