Nearmap Oblique imagery provides a 45-degree angle view of a location. You can view Oblique imagery for each cardinal direction of the location, allowing you to measure the height and width of objects and buildings, 3D lines, such as the slope of roofs, and 3D areas, such as rooftops.
When you measure the area of a surface on vertical (top-down) imagery and that surface is not 100% horizontal, you are not measuring the true area of the surface. On Vertical imagery you are only drawing on the horizontal plane.
When you measure on Nearmap's Oblique imagery, you are effectively drawing on top of the surface. This means areas, heights and widths are accurate and correct, even if they are not truly horizontal or vertical. And when you draw an area on a sloped surface in MapBrowser, you can also see the pitch.

Tips for measuring lines
- Unlike measurements on our Vertical content, you can't change the values of Oblique measurements from Inspector Panel.
- Always draw along the edge of the structure you want to measure.
- Switch back to the primary view to check line placement and orientation if you are not sure.
- Choose another photo from a different direction from the drop-down list in the Layer Manager.
- Zoom in enough when drawing the line. Drawing the line when not zoomed in may result in a less accurate measurement.
