Viewing Nearmap True Ortho Imagery
- Open QGIS and Add Raster Layer by clicking the second icon on the left hand menu, or by selecting Layer, Add Layer, Add Raster Layer from the top menu.
- Browse and select the geocoded .tif file.
You may need to zoom to the layer by selecting View, Zoom to Layer.
Pairing True Ortho with DSM
Nearmap’s True Ortho (high-resolution at 15cm GSD) is a perfect pairing with Nearmap’s DSM. The perfect alignment will enable users to view, edit and analyze features from the DSM using the True Ortho product as a visual guide.
Use the DSM geocoded .tif file that corresponds to the True Ortho file you are using.
- Add the DSM layer to the project in the same way you added the True Ortho layer:
- Select Layer, Add Layer, Add Raster Layer from the top menu.
- Browse and select the geocoded .tif file.
The DSM layer is added over the True Ortho Layer.
- Double click the DSM layer in the Layers Panel to access its Layer Properties, then select the Transparency option.
- Change the Global Transparency to a percentage that allows you to see the True Ortho layer under the DSM layer. Click Apply, then OK.
