We have released an additional item in ArcGIS Marketplace - Nearmap Vertical Imagery (NZTM), making a total of five Nearmap ArcGIS Marketplace items. This item contains the same content as the existing NZ item, but it defaults to New Zealand Transverse Mercator projection.
What is happening to the original Nearmap NZ item?
The original item (Web Mercator) and the new item (NZTM) will both be available going forward.
Which item should I use?
For the most part, the two items provide similar functionality. NZTM item is required for better experience with NZTM native web maps. Please refer to this table for detailed guidance.
|
Use case | Which item | Why? |
---|
Web maps and apps in ArcGIS Online/Portal using Web Mercator projection | Nearmap NZ Vertical Imagery | Unless you specifically require NZTM basemap, it's better to stick with Web Mercator maps. This ensures better interoperability with base maps provided by Esri (which are in Web Mercator). |
Web maps and apps in ArcGIS Online/Portal using NZTM projection | Nearmap NZ Vertical Imagery (NZTM) | This release specifically targets this use case. This is not possible with the Web Mercator item or WMS v2. |
ArcGIS Desktop applications (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro) | Nearmap NZ Vertical Imagery | Desktop apps have fewer restrictions with respect to basemaps. Unless it's absolutely necessary to have an NZTM, it's better to use the default Web Mercator item. |
