If you want to use Nearmap 3D in your Rhino 3D model, the good news is that you can import Nearmap OBJ and FBX into Rhino. Carrie Wiley explains how to do this and how to optimize for performance.
OBJ or FBX files exported from MapBrower can be imported into Rhino. Find out more about Exporting 3D from MapBrowser.
Import your Nearmap OBJ or FBX file into Rhino by selecting File > Import and browsing to the location you saved it in.
In the Import Options dialog, check the Object names radio button (this should be the default selection) and press OK.
You will see the textured mesh.
There is a simple setting within Rhino to get the textures to appear:
Click the view label and select Rendered. If you have multiple viewports, repeat for each. In the example below, we are selecting Front > Rendered.
The example below shows the textured mesh rendered in all views in the viewport.
Adjusting in Photoshop.
You can adjust the texture map in Photoshop to enhance color or reduce the number of pixels for faster performance.
Only edit the .JPG that is included in your OBJ format 'Mesh' folder as part of the MapBrowser download.
DO NOT change the file names or the texture mapping (that aligns the textures to the wireframe polygons) will be messed up.
