Autodesk university was a great turnout for Nearmap. We were the only imagery content provider, so traffic through the booth was heavy! Our booth and content were a big hit with the engineering and construction sector, particularly for modeling and drafting.
3D was a large part of conversations on the floor, as well as integration into Autodesk Apps. Most of our potential customers and current users were creating models with our textured mesh and including their own building extrusions and models in the same environment for rendering and design purposes. Having an accurate 15cm resolution of 3D data helps customers make faster, more accurate decisions right from their workstation.
We had a lot of interest around 3D products and the instant access to 3D customer driven exports.
Nearmap’s MapBrowser tool now allows for 3D exports by drawing a bounding box up to 35 square miles for extracting data.
Frequency of captures is also very important to customers with large scale projects that need monitoring to span long timelines. In Australia, Nearmap imagery is captured up to 6 times per year, and up to 3 times per year in the United States. 3D content is updated on an annual basis in both markets and is a large value-add to our users. All Nearmap content is generated from the same sensor, which is key to lining up datasets so that metrics are not skewed. Third party application integration is critical for customers and partners who ingest Nearmap content to play well in all facets of any industry including architecture, construction, and engineering.
Integration of Nearmap content is critical for customers and partners operating in any industry including architecture, construction, and engineering.
It is very beneficial for Nearmap content to integrate into Autodesk applications because it streamlines user workflows and they can operate on up to date, crystal clear imagery to serve as their background or reference layer.
The availability of our 3D on-demand and at such wide scale provides data that is both costly and timely to acquire by drone or has never been available before. It’s more up-to-date than other imagery sources and provides truth on ground which allows designers, engineers, and construction managers to be proactive in the design phase rather than reactive during the construction phase.
