Portal for ArcGIS Integration

We have applications that use our aerial imagery from Nearmap. Prior to the AGOL service interruption back in June 2025 all our apps were able to consume the service from Nearmap without using a login. After the service interruption was resolved in mid September, we can no longer use the Nearmap AGOL service without signing in. Here are the procedures we have been using, https://help.nearmap.com/kb/articles/280-portal-for-arcgis-nearmap-integration-from-arcgis-online . After adding the Nearmap service and signing out to test our apps we get prompted with the Sign in to ArcGIS Enterprise with esri window. Is anyone else having this issue?

    Hi @Hector_27842,

Nearmap Support have not identified a widespread issue since the update in September. I am not aware of any similar cases being raised. We have though previously had customers with similar issues that were related to them running an older version of portal. It was incompatible with the new update that Esri released. This presented in a similar way that you are describing. The service was unable to store the credentials added into the service and prompted for new credentials to authorise the request. Are you able to confirm what version you are running?

  • Hi @Brendan_5012,

    We are running 10.9.1.

Thanks for confirming. I don't believe that the issue is related to your Portal version. We will engage with you directly via a support ticket.

Generally we would recommend attempting to test the portal connection via our Tile or WMS service to confirm that you can successfully authenticate the connection via a Nearmap API Key.

    Hi @Sean_8857 and @Hector_27842,

We are currently investigating this issue further. I will provide more information as soon as I have more content to share.

Please also note that we currently have an outage with our ESRI service. We have reached out to Esri and are working with them to attempt to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Brendan

  • We are on Enterprise 11.4 and are also having this issue. Anytime I try to open an map in our Portal that has a Nearmap layer it endlessly loops with the log in. I cannot even open the map to take the Nearmap layer out so I can edit the map.

    Hi @Shawny_21922,

    Thanks for reaching out.

On June 26th Esri released a change to their service which impacted our ability to serve the marketplace item. We had a really significant outage for our Esri integration at the time. We were able to tentatively resolve this issue in September with a delicate workaround that returned access to the service to our customers. We were using this workaround to find a more permanent solution to the problem.

Unfortunately this workaround has broken and is no longer able to be used to serve our imagery to our customers via the marketplace item. We are working with Esri directly to investigate a solution here, permanent or temporary. We aim to restore access as soon as possible.

We have posted this on our status page, status.nearmap.com. You can subscribe for free to get updates.

The authentication loop that you have described matches with our experience with the issue. Unfortunately I can't suggest a solution that would help you remove the marketplace item for the service. I have reached out to our product team and will attempt to update this space as soon as I have more information about this issue and outage. We will also update the status page with updates as soon as we have more information.

I really apologise for the issue here and will update you as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Brendan
